Amelia Pothoven

Curriculum Developer

Amelia started homeschooling when her firstborn started kindergarten in 2017. She loves homeschooling because she loves to be hands-on in her kids learning. Homeschooling gives her the freedom to go on field trip adventures out of town, allows her kids to explore their passions, and focus on their diverse needs. She loves being just as excited as her kids when phonics, fractions, or the French alphabet finally CLICKS. She also loves to chat to anyone and everyone who will listen about homeschooling.

Amelia’s passion is creating curriculum and resources, inspired by her own kids’ learning needs, and loves to share them with others in the homeschool community.

Sticks & Stones (Candice, specifically) is so incredibly thankful that Amelia has stepped up to takeover the curriculum creation side of things for the group, as it is such a HUGE piece of our programming puzzle that has always taken up countless hours, that can now be directed elsewhere.

When not creating the weekly booklets for Sticks & Stones, you can find Amelia meal prepping, baking, planning field trips, and sewing.

“Every decision you make for homeschooling is not set in stone. What works for this year, this child, this season, or today might change- and that’s okay! There’s no wrong way to teach your kids, but there’s endless amounts of right ways for you and for them! When you’re stuck, reach out, take a pause, or shake it up. Just keep putting your kids and your family first and everything else will fall into place.” -Amelia
